Prompts for telling a story together.
For the child who interrupts a story to tell you a better one. These are story starters, picture prompts, silly first lines and simple structures to hang an invented story on.
Some are told out loud in the car, others are written down or drawn. Both count — a story dictated to an adult is still the child's story.
The most reliable prompt on the whole page is: a character, a place, and something going wrong. That is enough for most children to be away.
