Cookies
Which cookies this site uses, and what they are for.
What cookies are
Small files a website stores in your browser, plus similar technologies such as local storage and pixels. Some are needed for the site to work at all; others are optional and only set if you agree to them.
Strictly necessary
Set on every visit, because without them the site does not function.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Bright Play Days | Keeps your session so forms work | Until you close your browser |
| CSRF token | Bright Play Days | Protects forms against forgery | 2 hours |
| `bpd-ann-…` (local storage) | Bright Play Days | Remembers you dismissed the announcement bar | Until you clear your browser |
These do not identify you, are never used for advertising, and cannot be switched off — but they also never leave this site.
Analytics
Set only after you agree, and never before. Everyone is asked, wherever they are in the world. Decline, or simply ignore the question, and nothing below is ever written to your device.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| `_ga`, `_ga_…` | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visitors so we can count them | Up to 2 years |
We use this to see which pages help and which confuse, across everyone, not to identify you. You can opt out entirely with Google's browser add-on.
Advertising
We intend to show advertising to keep this site free. When it is live, third-party vendors including Google may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
You can control this:
- Google Ads Settings — turn off personalised advertising from Google
- aboutads.info/choices — US opt-outs
- youronlinechoices.eu — UK and EU opt-outs
You will be asked before any advertising cookie is set — everyone is, wherever they are — and you can change your answer at any time from the Cookie choices link in the footer.
Advertising on this site is never targeted at children.
Controlling cookies yourself
Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies in its settings, and most let you refuse third-party cookies while keeping the ones a site needs.
Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop the newsletter and contact forms on this site from working.
Changes
New cookies get added to the tables above before they are switched on, not after.
