Fall activity ideas for kids.
Autumn hands you a craft box for nothing. Leaves in five colours, acorns, conkers, pine cones, seed heads and sticks are all lying on the ground waiting to be collected, sorted and stuck onto things.
The collecting is half the activity. A bag and a walk produce enough material for a week of making, and sorting the haul on the kitchen table is an activity in itself.
Anything gathered outside wants washing hands afterwards, and conkers and acorns are a choking size for the youngest children — both are noted where they come up.

Weave a Spider Web
Snip notches round a paper plate, wind wool across it, and you have a web. Good threading practice hiding inside a Halloween craft.

Monster Feet Painting
Paint the bottom of their feet and walk them down a roll of paper. Messy, hilarious, and over in ten minutes.

Spooky Shadow Puppets
Cut a bat and a cat from card, tape them to straws, and put on a show against the wall with a torch.

Wash and dry the seeds from your pumpkin, then turn them into a counting game that lasts all week.
