Montessori-Inspired ideas for children aged 2 to 8.
Montessori-inspired does not mean special equipment. It means the activity is real, the child can complete it alone, and there is an obvious way to tell whether it is finished — pouring water between two jugs without spilling, sorting buttons into a tray, buttoning a cardigan laid flat on the floor.
The setup matters more than the activity. Everything on one tray, within reach, in a quantity a child can manage. A jug filled to the brim guarantees a spill; a jug filled a third of the way lets them succeed and then do it again.
We say "inspired" deliberately. These are not a Montessori curriculum and this site is not a Montessori school — they are ordinary household tasks arranged so a young child can genuinely do them.
